In the midst of swelling social unrest, the Akuna family has recently moved from New York City to a picturesque suburban neighborhood that they believed would be a safer environment for their son, Jonah, to finish high school. However, as soon as they arrive, Jonah starts having eerie episodes that border on the sinister. He’s convinced there’s an evil force lurking in the neighborhood that does not want his family there. Disturbing nightmares ensue, bluring the line between sleep and his waking hours. What was supposed to be a fresh start for the Akuna family is quickly souring. To make matters worse, Jonah’s father, a First Sergeant in the Army, has been mostly absent — until he’s passed up for yet another promotion. This professional blow brings father and son together in the most beautiful and disturbing way.
